Fix Error " Update server not available (error: #) " while Updating Google Chrome


When you try to update Google Chrome browser you may get an error saying "update server not available (error: #)". The # maybe error 3, error12,  error 11, error 1 or something like that.. This number varies or Each Operating System. Usually error 3 is occurred in Windows and error 12 Mac OS. 
So guys in this post i will tell you how to solve / fix these types of Google Chrome  Update Errors. If you have any other errors other than anything which i have described above, please write it as comments



Common Errors Occurred in Windows XP / Vista / 7

Error 1

This error is caused when the installed files of chrome have moved from original location to some other place. Uninstalling and Re-installing will fix this error. If not working Download the latest Google chrome form here

Error 3

This error is most common. It caused because of the administrator rights does not have privilege to update Google Chrome. This can be avoided by logging off and logging in as normal user (not administrator). Then open your Google Chrome and update.

Doesn't work?

If this doesn't work you have run a alternate installer, By running this your error will be fixed and Chrome will be automatically updated. Alternate Installer



Error 7


This error means that update was downloaded successfully, but it failed to install.
1) Restart your computer
2) Open task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)
3) See if GoogleUpdate.exe or GoogleUpdateOnDemand.exe appears in the list of processes
4) If yes, try updating again through the browser.If still encountering problems, try reinstalling Google Chrome from here


Common Errors Occurred in 
Mac OS

Error 10, 11

1) Close Google Chrome
2) Go to Applications-> Utilities
3) Double-click the Terminal program.
4) Run the two commands given below


~/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate/GoogleSoftwareUpdate.bundle/Contents/Resources/GoogleSoftwareUpdateAgent.app/Contents/Resources/install.py --uninstall

sudo /Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate/GoogleSoftwareUpdate.bundle/Contents/Resources/GoogleSoftwareUpdateAgent.app/Contents/Resources/install.py --uninstall


5) Download the Google Software Update installer
6) Double click the downloaded "googlesoftwareupdate-version#.dmg" file to open the disk image.
7) Double click the "GoogleSoftwareUpdate.pkg" installer.
8) Follow the onscreen prompts to reinstall Google Software Update.
9) Eject the "GoogleSoftwareUpdate" disk image.
10) Restart Google Chrome.

Error 12


1) In the Finder menu at the top of your window, select Go->-Go to Folder-> ~/Library/Caches.
2) Delete the files: com.google.Keystone and com.google.UpdateEngine
3) Update your Google Chrome again.

If this didnt work for error 12, try the insturctions as in error 10,11 (just above)
